The Isles at MetroWest – Fall Festival

The Isles at MetroWest are holding their Fall Festival on October 16, 2010 from 2pm to 5pm at “the Big Circle”. (That’s the grass roundabout at the end of Westpointe Blvd. for those of us that are grown ups.  You see, even though it’s looks like a big grassy park, it’s actually a traffic circulatory system, which means you’re not supposed to park on it unless you want either a.) a ticket or b.) a dent in the side of your car from moving vehicles. Remember, grown ups don’t let grown ups cause hazards by parking on roundabouts.)

Ok, now that I’ve got the sarcasm out of my system for the day, as you can see from the poster, ladies should “bring a dish”. I’m guessing they would prefer it to be full of some sort of edible foodstuff, but it sounds like an empty plate might also work. Or perhaps a handsome man. (Ok so I have a whif of sarcasm left in me.) Still, I’ll be there, drinking some beer, if that’s allowed, muttering intermittently about those who think it’s acceptable to park on a traffic roundabout.

Fannie Mae Offers New Closing Cost Assistance for Homebuyers

To encourage the purchase of REO properties, Fannie Mae began offering a new incentive on September 23 that will be available through December 31, 2010.

Overview of Incentive
Buyers buying homes listed via Home Path will be offered an incentive of up to 3.5 % of the final sales price that can be used toward closing cost assistance, including a home warranty. Buyers must close within 60 days of the offer being accepted.

This incentive reinforces Fannie Mae’s commitment to stabilizing communities and assisting buyers.

Eligibility

1. Offers must be accepted on or after September 23, 2010;
2. Property sales must close before December 31, 2010;
3. Loans must close within 60 days of offer accepted; and
4. Purchases must be used by buyers as their primary residence (second homes and investment properties are excluded).

This is a great incentive for first-time home buyers since Fannie Mae will actually give preference to these offers over investors. They may also qualify for a loan, which are hard to find these days, particularly on condos.
